[Linux] How to run GTA SA open.mp using Lutris (non-Steam version)
Info
What is this guide for?
- Linux users (this guide should work on most modern Linux distributions, even SteamOS)
- Almost any x86 hardware (yes, even Steam Deck)
- Will work for Steam and non-Steam users
- Those who have a "HOODLUM" version of the game and NOT the Steam version.
This guide will be using "Bazzite" Linux, but these steps should be the same on almost all Linux distributions, including SteamOS.
Note: Where to get the "HOODLUM" version? You will need to find it yourself. HINT
If you experience issues, check THIS guide for possible solutions.
Steps
1) Get to your Linux Desktop.
Note: If you are using a Steam Deck, then you can use THIS guide to get to Desktop Mode.
2) Get Lutris.
Note: You can find guides that are for your Linux distribution. In case of Steam Deck you can use THIS guide (you only need to watch the first minute) or search for other guides.
3) Get your "HOODLUM" version's .ISO file on the device. You can download it or copy it using however you want. You need to get the .ISO file on your device.
4) Make sure you are able to mount .ISO files
KDE users:
(including SteamOS)
- You will need to add an app called "Mount unmount ISO". You can use THIS guide to learn how to install it.
GNOME users:
(including Bazzite)
- You don't need anything additional
5) Mount your .ISO file.
KDE users:
- Right click on the .ISO file and select "Mount/unmount iso image" and press "Mount".
GNOME users
- Double click on the .ISO file
6) You should see a new entry on left and when you click it you should see the contents of the .ISO file.
For now you don't need to do anything to them, but you need the .ISO to be mounted.
Note: You can also extract the .ISO file if you don't want to mount it, you only need the files inside the .ISO file.
7) Find "Lutris" on your device and start it.
Note: Use the "Start" or "Win/Super" key to find Lutris.
