[Linux] How to run GTA SA open.mp using Lutris (Steam version)
Info
What is this guide for?
- Linux users (this guide should work on most modern Linux distributions, even SteamOS)
- Almost any x86 hardware (yes, even Steam Deck)
- Steam users
- Those who have a legal copy of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas (Classic version), this is NOT for "HOODLUM" users
This guide will be using "Bazzite" Linux, but these steps should be the same on almost all Linux distributions, including SteamOS.
If you experience issues, check THIS guide for possible solutions.
Steps
1) Get to your Linux Desktop.
Note: If you are using a Steam Deck, then you can use THIS guide to get to Desktop Mode.
2) Get Steam client.
SteamOS and Bazzite has already Steam preinstalled, you can skip this.
In case your Linux distribution allows to install Steam as a system package or as a Flatpak/Snap image, then consider using system package instead. This guide will work in both cases, but you might have better compatibility with other games when using the system package.
Bazzite has Lutris preinstalled.
3) Get Lutris.
You can find guides that are for your Linux distribution.
Note: In case of Steam Deck you can use THIS guide (you only need to watch the first minute) or search for other guides.
4) Open your Steam client.
Use the "Start menu" or "Win/Super" key to search for the Steam client on your device.
5) Open "Library", search for "San Andreas" and look for "Grand Theft Auto San Andreas".
Note: Make sure you do NOT select "Definitive Edition" and NOT the macOS version.
6) Right click on the correct version and press "Install" 7) Press "Install"
Note: Do NOT change the location, use the "Internal Drive", otherwise the installation might fail.

Note: Use the "Start" or "Win/Super" key to find Lutris.

21) Now you need to wait.

You can press "OK".
