This guide assume you have followed one of these guides:
- Linux non-Steam (Lutris)
- Linux Steam (Lutris)
- Linux non-Steam (Bottles)

If you followed one of those guides, then you should now have a working GTA:SA with version 1.0 and with the following mods:
- ASI Loader
- Modloader
- Silentpatch
- Widescreen fix
- Porject2DFX (with additional tuning, especially streaming memory adjustments)
- Ginput
- Framerate vigilante

By using a few more mods you can make a 2000s era game look still playable. Be aware that some of these mods are very resource intensive and might not work very well on older computers. There are a few adjustments you can later make to increase the performance.

Some of these mods are still in active development, be sure to check if there is a more up-to-date version available on a regular basis. Some of these mods are not really needed, but one of the mod author's expect that you have it, therefore to avoid issues in the future you might want to add those mods either way. Many of these mods are included alreayd in a modpack called "Essentials Pack", but that modpack was not used in the guide on purpose. It is up to the reader to decide if they want to manually install each mod or use the mentioned modpack.

Steps

Follow these steps in the order written below.

Large Address
(Fixes 2GB RAM limit in the game)

1) Download the mod: https://www.mixmods.com.br/2016/09/iii- ... gb-de-ram/
2) Place the "largeaddress.exe" file inside "C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas" folder

Depending on your OS, do the following:
WIndows:
1) drag and drop "gta_sa.exe" on top of "largeaddress.exe"
2) Follow the instructions and wait

Linux:
1) Using your desired runner, change the executable to "cmd.exe", for example for Lutris: "/home/deck/Games/grand-theft-auto-san-andreas-open-multiplayer/drive_c/windows/system32/cmd.exe" (remove arguments if they exist)
2) Run the following commands:

Code: Select all

cd "C:\Program Files (x86)\Rockstar Games\GTA San Andreas"
largeaddress.exe gta_sa.exe

4) Don't forget to change the executable and arguments in your runner app back

To imrpove performance, change Antialiasing to OFF.

SkyGFX
If you experience performance issues, SkyGFX is the first place to look.
